Art and Design
Subject Leader: Mrs White, Mrs Sandiford & Miss McDaid
At St. Marks we use a scheme for our Art and Design lessons, produced by Kapow Primary, which supports pupils to meet the National Curriculum attainment targets.
The scheme is written by experts and it is designed to inspire pupils and to develop their confidence to experiment and create their own works of art.
Pupils will have the opportunity to learn about art and artists across cultures thorough history. They will also have opportunities to evaluate and analyse creative works using subject-specific vocabulary.
Lessons follow a spiral curriculum model. The lessons in each unit are sequential and build upon previous skills and knowledge.
The curriculum is organised into 4 core areas;
*Drawing
*Painting and mixed-media
*Sculpture and 3D
*Craft and Design

Long Term Plans

Teachers are well skilled at adapting teaching to meet the diverse range of needs in each class. Daily planning considers individual pupil’s needs and requirements, and adaptive teaching is used where appropriate.
A range of adaptations are considered to promote equality of access and ensure that all pupils can experience success and challenge in their learning. Grouping arrangements are organised flexibly with opportunities for both ability and mixed setting to maximise learning opportunities for all.
